Message from Mayor Mikulski – July 8, 2020

Good afternoon fellow Southampton Residents,

Once again, on behalf of the Township Committee and our Administrator, we hope this message finds you and those close to you in good health.  We appreciate the way in which Southampton residents continue to show resolve, fortitude and calmness as we work our way through this pandemic together.

As you hopefully know, our annual fireworks show is scheduled for this coming Saturday, July 11th at Dusk.  This year’s celebration takes on special meaning not only because of the pandemic, but also because this year is the 175th Anniversary of Southampton Township.  Today, Governor Murphy will be signing an Executive Order mandating that masks/face coverings be worn when social distancing is not available.  Therefore, please help ensure that we keep each other safe at the Fireworks show by having a mask available and wearing it if you are unable to remain socially distant.

To maintain social distancing, the Township is encouraging residents to enjoy the fireworks by spreading out across the fields adjacent to the Municipal building (a/k/a the “Buddtown” fields) and the new Red Lion Recreation Park  (across from Harry Thompson Field).  No vehicles can be driven onto the grassy areas, but you may park in the parking lot and take lawn chairs/blankets onto the rest of the property to enjoy the show.   Again, help us avoid any issues by wearing a mask/face covering when you cannot maintain appropriate social distancing.  Masks are mandatory when utilizing the bathroom facilities (unless you have a medical issue that precludes wearing a mask).

Also, the Township’s annual summer concert series resumes tonight with the Golden Eagle Band performing at 7:15pm.  Concerts will continue for the next eight (8) Wednesdays.  Again, please bring a mask/face covering to wear if you cannot maintain social distancing.  The concerts will not be moved indoors this year in the event of rain.  We will try to update the Township website as soon as a decision is made to cancel a concert in the event of rain.

We hope you had a great Independence Day weekend.  Have a great summer.

Mike Mikulski, Mayor

Brush Pick Up

Due to the recent storms, there is has been an increase of requests for brush pickup.

Crews are working overtime to have brush picked up.

Please be patient. The public works crew will get to it.

Thank you.

Message from Mayor Mikulski – May 15, 2020

Fellow Southampton residents.

I again hope this update finds you and your family safe and well.  We have a few updates for you this week:

  1. Resource Recovery Complex (County Dump) – the Complex has re-opened to the public.  Hours of operation can be found on the Complex’ website:  http://www.co.burlington.nj.us/344/Solid-Waste
  2. Memorial Day – we know many residents are asking about the plans for Memorial Day.  An announcement will be posted on the Township’s website on Wednesday, May 20th.
  3. Beaches – as you likely heard, New Jersey beaches have opened.  Each municipality will establish its own rules on numbers allowed on the beaches, etc.  Check with the Shore-town Municipality for that information.
  4. We appreciate the continued compliance with social distancing for those enjoying the walking path and other Township properties.  Please continue to enjoy these areas safely.  The tennis courts are re-opened but again, please maintain social distancing when using the Courts.  The US Tennis Association recommends modified rule changes for safe play, including not changing sides and also using the racquet and your foot to pick up tennis balls instead of your hands.
  5. If you need to reach Township employees in the Municipal building, we suggest you call first and that way we can make sure the proper employees are available to provide assistance.  Thank you, again, for your patience.
  6. Finally, Burlington County has created a mobile app for COVID-19 and Board of Health updates.  Information can be found on the Township website.

Thank you again for looking out for each other and making sure the impact upon Southampton is as limited as possible.

Mike Mikulski
