THE JACK ALLEN MEMORIAL
EARLY COUNTRY LIVING MUSEUM

Landing Road, Southampton, New Jersey

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Jack Allen Early Country Living Museum
is to preserve and exhibit farm and early country living artifacts
for the purposes of education, demonstration and research.

The Museum features exhibits such as this typical
Country General Store and the actual transaction counter of the United Bank of Vincentown

It was the dream of the late Jack Allen to provide an opportunity for everyone, especially children, to visit his farm and view the literally hundreds of artifacts he had collected over the years. After Jack's death, members of his family and his circle of friends and colleagues vowed to help make Jack's dream come true. As a result, a Board of Directors has been established, and a portion of the one-time Allen Family Estate on Landing Road in Southampton, just outside the Village of Vincentown, will become "The Jack Allen Memorial Early Country Living Museum". It will house Jack's extensive collection of farm and country artifacts. Currently in the planning and development stage, the museum will open in stages over the next several years. Your moral and financial support is encouraged as we undertake this wonderful task in memory of a beloved member of our community.

This mobile exhibit can be seen at events
in various locations in Burlington County throughout the year.
It contains a variety of historic artifacts from the Jack Allen Collection.

FARM FUN DAY IV

Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30, 2006

For the past three years, on the grounds of Allen's Auction on Landing Street in Southampton, the public has been invited to participate in a coummunity event which recreates past memories of early farming and country living in this part of South Jersey. Demonstrations, exhibits, hands on activities, buggy and cart rides and a myriad of other events dazzle a generation of residents that has only experienced farm life from a distance. Farm Fun Day is a way to see how farming was practiced in past generations and how farm families used their ingenuity to simplify the many processes involved in planting, nurturing and harvesting their crops. In the spirit of the future Jack Allen Memorial Early Country Living Museum, the fields on Landing Street are transformed into a bygone era when life was simpler and families worked together in the noble profession of farming.

Again this year, in order to accommodate the many visitors to Farm Fun Day, the event will be held for two days. There will be plenty of things to do, lots to see and an exciting array of refreshments to make this a truly family outing. Join us in the fun! All proceeds go towards the support of the Jack Allen Memorial Early Country Living Museum. Once a distant dream, this museum is now becoming a reality.

Jack Allen

April 18, 1925 - June 24, 2002

In March, 1999, Jack Allen was interviewed by Leslie C. McDaniel of Farm Collector Magazine. The article was entitled "'Hobby' Takes on a Life of Its Own: Dairy items at the heart of extensive collection". In the article, Jack explains how he began collecting farm memorabilia, and how his collection grew to what it is today. By reading the article, you'll get an idea of just a small part of the collection that is to be the heart of the future Jack Allen Memorial Early Country Living Museum.
